(WKRG) — The noble steed, Ghost, is now getting some much-deserved relaxation after eight years of service with the Mobile Police Department. “The department will miss Ghost,” Public Information Officer, Roderick Miles said. Ghost was born and raised at the Angola Prison in Louisiana until he joined the Mobile Police Department in 2017. For the majority of his time in the force, he was partnerless due to his huge personality and stature. “Ghost was a big boy!” Miles said.

Each car took its own risk driving through the floods, and people walking took huge, careful steps to avoid the ankle-deep water. Tammy Zettlemoyer watched the familiar sight from her front porch on Ann Street all morning.

Drivers all day Wednesday were faced with the disappointing road closure signs, forced to turn around and find a new way around town. “Wow, OK, so that means I have to go the long way,” Evelyn Davis, a local driver, said.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Mobile City Council has approved a $15 million contract to dredge the lake at Langan Municipal Park. Mobile City Council has approved a contract for dredging Langan Lake. (Courtesy of the City of Mobile)The council authorized a contract with Hughes Companies, Inc. for the dredging and stormwater improvements, News 5 has learned. Crews will also repair the drainage in the lake to prevent sediment from piling up.
