Businesses in Sheffield have had their say on the Clean Air Zone introduced by Sheffield Council - and they are not all that positive. Two businesses which were based in Sheffield city centre have departed as a result of the CAZ, with one losing tens of thousands of pounds. The CAZ was launched in February 2023 to improve Sheffield’s air quality. It charges older diesel vans and taxis £10 per day to enter the city centre or travel along the inner ring road.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Huddersfield hosted a charity walk to promote peace and raise funds for local and international humanitarian causes. Attended by a wide range of people, including key Muslim figures, Kirklees Lord Mayor Liz Smaje, and members of West Yorkshire Police and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, the walk helped to bring people together as they battled against adverse weather conditions in Greenhead Park in Huddersfield on Sunday, June 8.

Two men have been charged with murder after a 16-year-old boy was knocked down and killed following a crash in Sheffield last week. Abdullah Yaser Abdullah Al Yazidi's death shocked the local community. It is understood he was hit by a grey Audi while walking along Staniforth Road, after visiting his family's shop, on Wednesday June 4. The car hit an electric bike rider, before continuing after the collision and knocking down Abdul, as he is known locally.

A Bradford teen who died after being stabbed in a mass brawl outside a mosque has been named and pictured. West Yorkshire Police confirmed officers were called to Newton Street in West Bowling just after 2.30pm on Friday (June 6) afternoon. A 19-year-old had been stabbed to death on neighbouring Loughrigg Street, while two other men, aged 24 and 27, received stab wounds.
