ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — Great Rivers United Way announced $1.5 million in mental health grants Wednesday morning, marking the Onalaska-based nonprofit's first-ever Community Mental Wellbeing Grant cycle. The funding will provide $500,000 annually for three years to local agencies working on mental health initiatives throughout the Coulee Region. Twenty-three organizations received grants, including CouleeCAP, The Parenting Place, and the La Crosse Area Family YMCA.

ALLAMAKEE COUNTY, Iowa (WKBT) -- Memorial Day travelers planning to cross between Iowa and Wisconsin via the Blackhawk Bridge will need to find alternative routes over the holiday weekend. The Iowa Department of Transportation says that the bridge connecting Lansing, Iowa, and Crawford County, Wisconsin, will remain closed through the Memorial Day weekend. The closure began Sunday when sensors detected movement on one of the bridge's piers, prompting immediate safety concerns.
