Appleton, WIS. (WXOW) Aquinas saw its season come to an end with a 5-2 loss to Seymour in the Div. 2 semifinals at the WIAA State Baseball Tournament Wednesday. The Blugolds scored twice in the second inning to take a 2-1 lead. Isaac Shelfout scored on a wild pitch and Ryan Johnson drove home Waylon Hargrove with a sacrifice fly. But Aquinas managed only three hits on the day. Seymour pitchers Xavier Salzman and Colton Nieland combined on the three-hitter while striking out seven.

West Salem, Wis. (WXOW) West Salem will be on center stage at the WIAA State Girls Soccer Championships for the first time ever this Friday. The Panthers earning their first trip to State after on overtime win over Waupaca in the Sectional final. The MVC champs putting in preparations for their division 3 state semifinal against top-seeded Catholic Memorial. Catholic Memorial finished the regular season ranked number one in the state while West Salem was unranked.

La Crosse, Wis. (WXOW) Aquinas baseball will be heading back to familiar territory this week. The Blugolds will be making their third straight trip to the WIAA State Baseball Tournament and ninth overall. The defending division three champs are in the division two field this year however, after being elevated due to the tournament performance factor. This group has played in a lot of big games over the last three seasons, and they hope that experience serves them well this week. "It helps us a ton.

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. (WXOW) Bella Thomas, playing in her first match of the season for Assumption, scored the game-winning goal to lead the Royals over Aquinas 2-1. The match was a Div. 4 Sectional semifinal. Anna Binsfeld's goal gave Aquinas a 1-0 lead which they took into halftime. But then Assumption scored twice in the second half, with Thomas' goal coming with just seven minutes left.

West Salem, Wis. (WXOW) West Salem is one win away from a trip to the WIAA State Girls Soccer Championships after beating Baldwin-Woodville 2-1 in a Div. 3 Sectional semifinal. It was scoreless until the 25th minute when Brynlee Kelly set up Sammi Niemeier for a header and the first goal of the game. After Baldwin-Woodville tied it on a penalty kick, the Panthers struck again in the 30th minute. Ava Schuster delivered West Salem's second goal which turned out to be the game-winner.
