A Transperth bus driver has been charged after he fatally struck a pedestrian outside of Perth Arena. A 45-year old man died when he was hit by a bus crossing Wellington St near the Milligan St intersection just after 6.15pm on Friday. He was treated at the scene by paramedics but could not be saved. The bus driver has been charged with careless driving causing death and will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on July 18. Inspector Vic Hussey told 9News it was a confronting scene.

A second housemate of missing Queensland teenager Pheobe Bishop has been charged with unrelated weapons offences following a police search last week. Pheobe, 17, was living with two housemates at a property in Gin Gin, southwest of Bundaberg, when she was last seen on May 15. She was supposed to fly from Bundaberg to Brisbane before catching another flight to Western Australia where she would meet up with her boyfriend. However, the teenager failed to board her flight and has not been seen since.

With fewer than three hours to go until voting booths close on the east coast, Anthony Albanese has admitted he has not yet chomped down on a democracy sausage. The Prime Minister cast his vote this afternoon at Marrickville West Public School in his seat of Grayndler. Mr Albanese said he “would have loved to” hit up the sausage sizzle, but claimed the press blocked the way.

The mother of a young woman killed in the horrific multi-car highway crash has opened up about her final call with her before her tragic death. Jocelyn Grace Mollee, 22, died on Monday after a man driving a red Porsche Macan allegedly lost control and caused a six-vehicle crash on the busy southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway at Palmview. Ms Mollee’s mum Amanda Chippendale said she did not get to see her daughter for Easter before her death, as she spent it with her partner’s family.

The Sunshine Coast has been swamped by almost 140mm of rain with roads cuts, rescues carried out, and waterways raging. More than 130 road closures were listed on the Sunshine Coast Council’s disaster hub on Saturday afternoon including 85 local roads. Across Qld, there had been 204 requests for help from SES with most of the jobs structural, followed by flooding and trees down. There were 29 calls for help in Gympie, 24 on the Sunshine Coast and 15 in Noosa.
