Mississippi State’s first half of the season bears some similarities to the Aggies, but has taken a different turn.

October 14, 2024 After the annual Old Maroon exhibition match where A&M rugby’s past met its present, the Maroon side will return to regular-season play when they travel south to take on the Rice Owls in Houston on Saturday, Oct. 19. The Maroon and White season started with two disappointing losses and zero wins, falling to Sam Houston and Tennessee 28-26 and 46-17, respectively, before notching the first win of the season, a 56-5 blowout over Arkansas on Sept. 27.

Around 200 students ate, sang, danced and celebrated at OU’s Vietnamese Student Association’s annual Lunar Moon Festival on Saturday. Andrew Hoang, Vietnamese Student Association family chair, said the festival is the organization’s biggest and most popular event of the year. “The Lunar Moon Festival is our most popular event,” Hoang said. “We host it with all sorts of external schools. We offer cultural foods like sushi and pad Thai. We also display cultural dances, such as line dances.

After having its 8-0 start squashed in a loss to No. 7 Wisconsin on Saturday, Texas A&M volleyball needed to end its nonconference slate on a high note in its game against Troy on Sunday in Madison, Wisconsin. Texas A&M football is riding high after going into The Swamp last week and beating Florida, 33-20, for its first road win in three seasons. Key to the victory was a strong performance by the Maroon and White defense. The Aggies significantly improved their run defense compared to their first two games against Notre Dame and McNeese, holding the Gators’ ground game to just 52 yards on 25 carries. The passing defense also showed flashes of brilliance, as the Aggies picked off three Florida passes.

The 97-degree scorching heat didn’t stop an enthusiastic crowd of Aggie and Bearkat parents and fans at Texas A&M’s Penberthy Rec Sports Complex. The fans watched as Sam Houston successfully controlled possession and clock to beat the A&M Maroon side 28-26 during two 40-minute halves on Sept. 14. Ranked 72 nationally according to RugbyHawk.com, the Maroon and White held the lead for most of the game over a Bearkats team that ranked sixth in the final D1AA rankings in the 2023-24 season.
