Thompson came in first in both the 200m (27:54) and the 400m (1:03.74) for Medgar Evers women’s outdoor track team in the City University of New York Athletic Conference Championships held at Ichan Stadium. Medgar Evers women won the 4×100 (49.54) and 4×400 (4:27.62) relays.

They made it to the finals – but couldn’t get over the hump. The James Madison High School rugby team made it to the Public Schools Athletic League finals, May 3rd at Springfield Gardens High School, but fell to Columbia Secondary School, 20-5 for the city title. Columbia Secondary School pulled the championship sweep – winning both the boys and girls city titles. Madison made it to the city finals by defeating Brooklyn’s William E.

Leanne McDonald, a Public Schools Athletic League Wingate Award winner while attending Brooklyn’s Paul Robeson High School, won a gold medal competing for the University of Maryland Baltimore County in the Women’s Outdoor Track and Field American East Championships at the University of New Hampshire last weekend. The prestigious PSAL Wingate Award recognizes the most outstanding senior student-athlete in each sport from New York City public high schools.
