Hastings Utilities employees put forth an all-hands-on-deck effort to help restore power to thousands of residents during and after the March 19 blizzard. Collectively, 20 employees in HU's electrical operations unit - all but one, who happened to be on medical leave - logged more than 400 hours of work time during the workday on that wind-blown Wednesday.

Bunger said he submitted his resignation about two weeks ago in order to accept a position with Freese and Nichols Inc., a private-sector engineering and planning firm in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His last day with the city of Hastings will be May 2.

Gathered Monday for their first regular April meeting at the Hastings Municipal Airport Terminal, Hastings City Council members voted 7-1 to approve a modification to the redevelopment plan for the city's Redevelopment Area No. 1.
