    BATTLEFORD - Battleford town council is looking at having upgrades done to the chimney of the old Government House site, south of town. The chimney is one of the few remnants of this site, which also served as the Battleford Industrial School until1914. Mayor Ames Leslie noted the structural condition of the towering chimney was assessed and found to be needing significant repairs. The structure, he estimates to be at least 70 feet high, is located on property owned by the town.

    BATTLEFORD- Battleford town council is reviewing an ethics/code of conduct complaint it received. For Saskatchewan, a municipal council is required to adopt a code of ethics for all their council members. The code of ethics bylaw defines the standards and values council expects members to comply with in their dealings with each other, employees of the municipality, and the public.

    OLGA - A B.C. man has died following a fatal rollover near Olga. At about noon July 9, Shaunavon RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 13. Officers responded immediately along with local EMS. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was declared deceased by EMS on route to the hospital. He has since been identified as a 32-year-old man from Vancouver, B.C. His family has been notified.
