The food and beverage department’s Gina Denhollander was recognized as the Employee of the Month for April. Michele Walter unveiled Denhollander’s selection at the master board’s open session on May 28. Selected by the marketing committee, Denhollander has been employed as a server since January 2018. Residents recognized Denhollander for her excellent customer service and positive, cheerful demeanor. She is willing to assist in any location, whether it’s the Sandwedge, the lounge or for banquets.

The Sun Lakes Master Board honored Randy Robbins, past vice president, for his service to the board and to the community at the governing body’s open session on May 28. Robbins accepted the beautiful crystal award after a life-saving double transplant (liver and kidney) at Loma Linda University Medical Center on Feb. 9. Robbins was elected to the master board in April 2022 and re-elected to the board in April 2024, but due to declining health stepped down from his position as vice president on Dec.

The Sun Lakes Wine Club will host a Mardi Gras event for Charity Week on Friday, June 6, in the main clubhouse ballroom for residents and their guests. Doors for the festivities open at 6 p.m. and entertainment will be courtesy of the multi-talented Delaney & Jaymes. In addition to the fabulous entertainment, the ticket price of $70 per person includes a three-course Big Easy-style dinner and four bottles of wine per table. The Sun Lakes bar will also be open for additional beverage purchases.

Who doesn’t love a hot, fluffy pancake for a special breakfast treat? Volunteers from Carol’s Kitchen will serve delicious griddle-cooked pancakes at this year’s Charity Week Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5. This is always a very popular event. The line of attendees snakes from the cooking area in the parking lot of the main clubhouse into the ballroom. Tickets are on sale now and are only $10 per person.
