INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou won the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. He’s been dominant in the IndyCar Series, winning the last two championships and has won five of the first six races to start the 2025 season. But one thing he had never done was win the Indianapolis 500, or even win on an oval track. He was able to cross the Yard of Bricks in front of the field on Sunday though, winning his first Indy 500.

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — It was a memorable Indianapolis 500. There were seven cautions during the race and 45 laps were run under caution. 11 drivers did not finish the race due to contact or mechanical issues. But, the race ended with Alex Palou doing what he’s done in all but one race so far in the IndyCar season – crossing the finish line first. Palou crossed the Yard of Bricks in front of the rest of the field to win his first Indianapolis 500.
