INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The 13th annual Chuckstrong Tailgate Gala was on Friday, raising money for cancer research. Colts owner Jim Irsay pledged a $275,000 donation to the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center if Chuck Pagano could make a layup. Pagano was successful, high fiving former Colts star Edgerrin James after the made layup. A video of the shot can be seen above. The Chuckstrong initiative has raised over $15 million for cancer research. “It’s humbling. It’s just incredible,” Pagano said.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WISH) — Back-to-back Indianapolis 500 winner Josef Newgarden and Indianapolis Motor Speedway owner Roger Penske visited President Donald Trump at The White House on Wednesday. “What you’ve done in Indianapolis, also, with the track and everything has been incredible,” Trump told Penske. “It’s really incredible. People tell me it’s been amazing.”The 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 25.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Month of May is still weeks away, but the anticipation is building. Parking for race day of the Indianapolis 500 is already sold out, according to Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Parking sold out faster than the last two years, with sales ending on April 18 in 2024 and on May 5 in 2023. With parking sold out, there are still other ways to get to The Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Parking is available in the community of Speedway surrounding the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Caitlin Clark has set plenty of records on the court. On Saturday, she set a record off the court. A Caitlin Clark trading card was sold for $366,000 at Goldin Auctions on Saturday, setting a record for a women’s sports card. The previous record was $266,400 for a Serena Williams card that was sold in 2022. It was a 2024 Panini Prizm WNBA Signatures Gold Vinyl Prizm card.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson has his team in the Sweet 16 for the sixth straight tournament. He’s back in Indianapolis as the No. 1 seed in the Midwest regional and will play Purdue on Friday for a chance to be in the Elite 8. Sampson, a former IU head coach, had great things to say about IU’s newly hired head coach, Darian DeVries. “Coach DeVries is a really, really good coach,” Sampson said. “Big 12 is full of great coaches.
