    A 19-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital Friday after the pickup truck he was driving struck a tree in Sussex County, according to police. The crash occurred about 12:30 a.m. on Route 519 North at milepost 68.5 in Hampton Township, according to New Jersey State Police. A preliminary investigation showed the driver was headed north when the pickup veered off the road to the left and struck a tree, according to a state police spokesman.

    A fast-moving blaze broke out Friday in a commercial building in an industrial area of Bergen County. The fire began shortly before noon in a building on Porete Avenue in North Arlington, officials said. The site is close to a residential neighborhood in North Arlington that borders Kearny in Hudson County. No injuries were immediately reported. Video from the scene showed black smoke billowing over homes along Schuyler Avenue near Route 7, known as Belleville Turnpike.

    A man found dead on train tracks in Passaic County may have been struck by a train on NJ Transit’s Main Line in Paterson, authorities said Friday. The body’s discovery on Thursday evening prompted a temporary suspension of service. The crew of a non-service train spotted the deceased man on the tracks around 5:55 p.m., just east of the Route 80 overpass, according to NJ Transit. The train was not carrying passengers at the time.

    An Atlantic County grand jury has indicted a 23-year-old Egg Harbor City man on 15 counts of invasion of privacy for allegedly using his phone to record men in restrooms at a gym and Daniel Zhang was indicted Thursday following an investigation by Hamilton Township police that began Sept. 16, 2024. Officers responded on that date to a report of suspicious behavior at Planet Fitness. Authorities said Zhang admitted to recording multiple men without their consent at the gym and at a nearby Wawa.

    A sex offender with a history of luring children to his car is trying to get out of prison after being sent there when a parole board determined he violated the terms by walking into a Chuck E. Cheese in Ocean County. David Hohsfield, 69, of Asbury Park, was ordered to serve 18 months after board members determined he violated a parole condition that states he would refrain from contact with minors. Hohsfield is a Tier 3, or high-level, sex offender, according to New Jersey State Police.
