On Tuesday, City Attorney Drew Martin told the Jackson City Council owners had filed for Chapter 11 protection and that a trustee had been appointed to oversee the facility on Raymond Road.

    VICKSBURG, Miss. (WLBT) - For the first time in more than a decade, there will be a new face leading the city of Vicksburg. Mayor George Flaggs is conceding his run for a fourth term. As a result, Democratic candidate Willis Thompson is now set to serve as the city’s top leader for the next four years. Flaggs’ decision to concede comes after Tuesday’s general election. Unofficial numbers show Thompson was the leading vote-getter. Thompson received 1,770 votes, which is roughly 44 percent.

    VICKSBURG, Miss. (WLBT) - On Tuesday, residents in Vicksburg will decide who they want to lead the city for the next four years. Three candidates are running for mayor. They include the incumbent, Mayor George Flaggs, who’s running as an independent, Kasman Massey, who’s also running as an independent, and Willis Thompson, who’s running on the democratic ticket. Mayor Flaggs has held this seat for more than a decade. He was elected mayor in 2013. He’s now seeking his fourth term.

    CLARKSDALE, Miss. (WLBT) - On Thursday, hundreds poured into the Clarksdale Civic Auditorium to be a part of a movie screening. It’s a blockbuster film seen by millions all across the world. Some are already calling it the movie of the year. That’s right, we are talking about “Sinners.”It was the first time the movie was shown in the small Mississippi Delta town. The movie is set in Clarksdale. However, many residents couldn’t see the film because the city doesn’t have a movie theater.

    BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (WLBT) - Within a span of 12 hours, investigators with the Brookhaven Police Department investigated five separate shootings. One of the shootings was deadly. Lincoln County Coroner Blake Wallace identified the victim as 15-year-old Kayden Mohon. The teen was shot and killed a week before his 16th birthday. According to investigators with the Brookhaven Police Department, the first shooting happened at 6:20 Sunday evening.
