JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The defending SWAC and HBCU National Champions, Jackson State football, has announced staff changes ahead of the 2025 season. On Friday, Justin Sanders, the Charlotte defensive backs coach last season, was added to the staff in the Spring and officially announced as the program’s newest linebackers coach. He was brought in by head coach TC Taylor after 2024 linebackers coach Chris Orr left the program to join the backroom staff at the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs.

BYRAM, Miss. (WLBT) - Students have been evacuated from Byram Middle School after a gas leak was reported there Friday morning. That’s the word from Fire Chief Harry Horton, who says the students have been temporarily moved to the school’s football field. Horton said the leak occurred in the kitchen area and was reported around 10:34 a.m.Atmos Energy officials are already on the scene working to make repairs. No injuries have been reported.
