ENDERLIN, N.D.— Almost a year ago, Michaela and Colton Briss bought their dream home on 12 acres about 4 miles southeast of Enderlin. The house protected the married couple, as well as Michaela Briss' mother and stepfather, Friday night, June 20, as a tornado ripped through their property. They waited in the basement, they said, as the twister sucked out the home's windows and door frame. "The house took very, very good care of us," Michaela Briss told The Forum on Saturday.

FARGO — A U.S. Supreme Court ruling that upheld a Tennessee ban on gender-affirming medical care for transgender children doesn’t automatically kill a lawsuit that fights a similar law in North Dakota, an attorney said. MOORHEAD — Defense attorneys for a Moorhead man accused of killing his mother almost three years ago plan to argue he is not guilty due to a mental illness or cognitive impairment, according to court documents. Clay County Judge Tammy Merkins signed an order on Friday, June 13, that requires a psychologist to determine if James Diawo Kollie, 27, was mentally capable of understanding that killing his 59-year-old mother, Receia Kollie, was wrong. The evaluation is due Aug. 18.
