    VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Firefighters have been busy putting out grass fires in the area over the last couple of weeks. On Monday, May 12th, firefighters from Valley City worked for several hours trying to contain a grass fire some 12 miles south of Interstate 94 along the Peak Road in Barnes County. Crews had to refill their water tanks several times on Monday to keep the grass fire contained as high temperatures and a gusty wind kept fueling the grass fire.

    WAHPETON, N.D. (KFGO/KVRR) – The Richland County Sheriff’s Office says an ATV crash south of Wahpeton sent two juveniles to the hospital Saturday afternoon. The two juveniles who were hurt and one other were in the ATV when the driver tried to make a turn and lost control. The ATV went into the ditch and rolled. None of the juveniles were wearing seat belts. The Sheriff’s Office, Dwight Fire, and Wahpeton-Breckenridge Ambulance responded to the scene.

    JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A fire burned a home in rural Jamestown on Saturday, May 10th located at 3450 82nd Avenue Southeast. According to the Stutsman County dispatchers log, the homeowner called and said a fire started outside and then spread to the home and partial burned a second structure. No injuries reported. The American Red Cross was called to assist the family who was displaced from their home following the fire.

    VALLEY CITY (VCSU) – Valley City State University will recognize more than 300 graduates during its annual Spring Commencement ceremony at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 17, inside the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse. President Alan LaFave, who began his tenure at VCSU in 2018, will preside over the commencement exercises. Curtis Biller will represent the State Board of Higher Education (SBHE).
