An unknown suspect fired at least one shot from a vehicle at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sonic in the 2400 block of Coalton Road, according to Broomfield police. Rachel Haslett, lead public information officer for the Broomfield Police Department, said that an employee at Sonic reported hearing what sounded like a gun shot.

Jared Polis visited Broomfield’s Bal Swan Children’s Center on Thursday as part of a series of visits to child care centers around the state to promote the start of the new Universal Preschool program. Universal Preschool, established by a state law, provides up to 15 hours of tuition-free preschool for all 4-year-olds starting this fall, plus additional hours for a small number of 4-year-olds with certain risk factors.

Longmont police believe the four men who were involved in Wednesday night’s armed robbery at Famous Footwear are connected to two other crimes in the Denver-metro area, where authorities believe the suspects reside. Police have released surveillance photos of four teenage Hispanic men seen fleeing the Famous Footwear at 205 Pratt Blvd. at 6:17 p.m. Wednesday.

This time, it will pursue a public/private partnership to develop a system for the town. This Friday the Colorado Department of Transportation will be offering Uber vouchers during during the Northern Colorado Owlz game as part of an effort to curtail impaired driving. The giveaway is part of CDOT’s “Player’s Pledge” campaign that was launched in partnership with the Owlz in July to encourage minor league baseball fans to “keep their bases covered all season long with a sober ride,” according to a Thursday release.
