A conservation group on Tasmania's east coast has been trying to restore a beachside wetland since the 1980s, but has had its hard work trampled by deer, time and time again. Deer were introduced to Tasmania in 1836 as a hunting resource, and despite a significant population boom are not considered an invasive species in Tasmania. The Seymour Community Action Group is lobbying the state government to better resource deer control in the area.
