Last September, the university broke ground on its latest addition to campus: a $20 million, 93,000-square-foot indoor facility across Brooks Stadium. One of the tools the crime scene team at the Myrtle Beach Police Department relies on is a FARO laser scanner. The department has used one, which takes 3D images of any size area, for the last decade. It was the second department in the state to get one, behind SLED. Earlier this year, the city purchased the latest model, and it includes several new features.

    MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The Better Business Bureau is constantly monitoring scams. Once a year, the organization releases its scam tracker. While scammers target all ages, older adults report dealing with investment scams, romance scams, and home improvement scams the most. The tracker shows that ages 18-24 reported a higher median dollar loss to all scams. Ages 55-64 however reported paying scammers through credit cards, prepaid gift cards, and checks most frequently.

    MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - New footage obtained by WMBF News shows the moments that led to a former South Carolina deputy’s DUI arrest in Horry County. Authorities arrested 24-year-old Patrick Roscoe on May 28 and charged him with driving under the influence and having an open container of beer/wine in a vehicle. Roscoe was fired from his role with the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office after his arrest.

    MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Millions of Americans have to rely on life-saving drugs every day. Diabetes is an autoimmune disease that requires some to take insulin, but not everyone who needs it can afford it. Misti Adams calls Horry County home and has been walking through most of her life with Type 1 Diabetes. “The day I went to the doctor, my sugar was like 660, and he was like, ‘Yup, time to give yourself a shot,’” said Adams. She’s had to take insulin several times a day for almost 40 years.
