Share MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – Newly released documents show what led to the city shutting down a motel in Myrtle Beach. Through a Freedom of Information Act request, WMBF News obtained the inspection report for the Blake Motel, located at 209 North Ocean Boulevard. It shows an inspection was done on the property on Dec. 3, 2024. According to the documents, the property maintenance inspector found that the property was in violation of 26 codes and/or ordinances.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF/Gray News) - A popular seafood restaurant in South Carolina is being taken to court over what was allegedly found in one of its soups. Tiffany and Kevin Buddington have filed a lawsuit against Heidi’s Corner Restaurant Group, which is the parent company of Hook & Barrel. FLORENCE, S.C. (WMBF) – In a nearly week-long federal trial, a former Marlboro County sheriff’s case is now in the hands of a jury. Prosecutors and defense gave their closing arguments on Monday afternoon in Charles Lemon’s trial. He is charged with deprivation of civil rights after investigators said he ordered one of his deputies to use a Taser on an inmate six times at the Marlboro County Detention Center.

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF/Gray News) – A beach patrol officer in South Carolina accused of running over and killing a woman on the beach has retired. WMBF reported that the Horry County Public Safety Committee agenda for Tuesday shows there is a resolution to declare LCpl. Julian “Duke” Brown’s service weapon as surplus property and to make it available to him after his retirement. WMBF also reached out to the Horry County Police Department, which confirmed Brown retired on July 26.
