Six months after they promised to focus on California's cost of living and affordability problems, California's legislative leaders still don't have a concrete plan to tackle the issue. California lawmakers this week face the first major bill deadline of the year known as "House of Origin" on Friday. The deadline means proposed laws written in the State Assembly must pass out of the Assembly, and laws written in the State Senate must get out of the Senate by the end of this week.

As two oil refineries prepare to close in California within the next year, some Democratic state lawmakers on Wednesday signaled they're losing trust with the leaders of state agencies that have been regulating the oil and gas industry. California Air Resources Board Chair Liane Randolph, California Energy Commission Vice Chairman Siva Gunda and Division of Petroleum Market Oversight Director Tai Milder were summoned to testify in front of the Assembly's Utilities and Energy Committee.

High-Speed Rail: $1 Billion Abortion provider cuts? Apparently Housing: Fast-tracked new laws And How has he responded to the will of California voters on crime and healthcare? More from Gov. Newsom’s proposed budget: https://t.co/59ZxFNuknR

California’s budgets since Gov. Newsom took office have gone from $208 Billion in 2019 to the $322 Billion he proposed today. As he blamed President Trump’s tariffs for CA’s money problems, I asked if any of those problems are self-inflicted. How he responded: https://t.co/weRQL8p1T2

NEW: In response to Planned Parenthood, Gov. Newsom’s spox said the governor will NOT sign a budget that would shut down health clinics across CA. “Any suggestion otherwise is laughably absurd,” he tells me in statement. https://t.co/1kBvSLvl4Y

The @CAgovernor just proposed 1/2 BILLION in cuts to repro and will effectively defund Planned Parenthood in CA, the same morning Republicans debated defunding PP nationwide in Congress. Happy to go on his Podcast and explain why this devastates women’s health in his state.
