COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Many Colorado Springs District 11 teachers voted to strike this Fall. On Thursday night, the Colorado Springs Education Association announced that the strike passed with a 91% vote from members. D11 has approximately 1,800 teachers in total. According to CSEA, 1150 of them are union members. The vote came down days after the school board was presented with a new employee handbook.

MAMMOTH SPRINGS, Wyo. (KKTV/Gray News) - A man was injured by a bison on Sunday at Yellowstone National Park. The National Park Service said a 47-year-old man from Cape Coral, Florida, was gored by a bison in the Lake Village area of the park around 3:15 p.m. According to officials, the man approached the bison too closely. Officials said the man was treated for minor injuries by emergency medical personnel. This incident is under investigation.

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - On Thursday, just after 4:30 p.m., the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office confirmed two additional fires burning in Pueblo County. Deputies said one fire, named the Daniel Road Fire, was burning at 38th Lane and Daniel Road. Crews said the Daniel Road fire was at 50 acres with zero containment, as of 9:02 p.m.Deputies said crews will be on scene throughout the fire, and flames and smoke could still be visible.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV/Gray News) - A zoo in Colorado said a legendary 22-year-old giraffe died last week following an age-related health decline. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo said the giraffe named Mahali died last Thursday. The zoo said Mahali was the second-oldest male reticulated giraffe in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Mahali went under anesthesia for treatments in 2017 and 2020 after experiencing foot and leg issues that impacted his mobility.
