The Daily Racing Form reports that Madaket Road has been removed from consideration from the 151st Kentucky Derby. The Bob Baffert-trained son of Quality Road ran second to Coal Battle in the G2 Rebel before finishing fourth in the G1 Florida Derby. Madaket Road will instead be entered in the G2 Pat Day Mile on the undercard of the Kentucky Derby. “That’s sort of been our goal all along, that’s a better distance for him,” Baffert told DRF.

Franco will get the call aboard Godolphin's East Avenue, last-out second in the G1 Blue Grass Stakes, for trainer Brendan Walsh. Luan Machado rode the colt in the Blue Grass, but Machado is committed to ride Final Gambit for Brad Cox in the Derby.
