Dr. Bobby Corrigan, a world-renowned rodentologist and a fellow Pest Management Professional (PMP) Hall of Famer (Class of 2008), coined the term “rogue roof rats” for Rattus rattus individuals that require extraordinary means to be eliminated. Some never get caught and seem to leave on their terms instead. There is a private home in a nice neighborhood. The pest management professional (PMP) has been there more than 20 times in an attempt to get this rat, with no success.

Using social media comes more naturally to the younger generations, but we older folks can still sharpen our skills. I would not even pretend to be a social media expert, but just because I’m not a pro does not mean I should not engage as a business owner. Social media has the power to help grow your audience and your company, but it also can hurt your business. Tempting as it may be, however, sticking your head in the sand is misguided.

A pest management company called me in for a mosquito problem at a large bank in New York City. To put it mildly, the clients were very upset they had mosquitoes in their “pristine” skyscraper. As I went through the building’s security line, the guards were happy to explain how bad the mosquitoes were and how they were experiencing numerous bites throughout the day. They said the mosquitoes were coming from the open door to the exterior and that I should check there first.
