Ashton made the announcement on the social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter. The youngest son of Penny played one season for his father and the Tigers in 2023-2024 as a true freshman, before entering the transfer portal and landing at Saint Mary's.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jaylen Wells was taken to a Charlotte area hospital after taking a hard fall during Tuesday's Charlotte Hornets and Memphis Grizzlies game. Wells attempted a fastbreak dunk at the 1:10 mark of the second quarter when he was undercut by Hornets guard KJ Simpson. Wells went limp on the floor and was attended to by medical staff from Spectrum Center for several minutes.
