    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A group of advocacy and faith leaders gathered in downtown Knoxville for an annual meeting that's meant to mimic a biblical example of a "great assembly," ultimately meant to hold officials accountable for justice. The annual "Nehemiah Action Assembly" was organized by Justice Knox, bringing together more than 1,200 faith leaders from two dozen congregations to discuss specific action items.

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Knoxville car dealer said community members are already reacting to the Trump administration's proposed tariffs on foreign-made car parts and imported cars. Neighbors bought nearly twice the average number of cars for a weekend at North Knoxville Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram, according to the dealership's management. Some of those buyers also asked how tariffs could impact them. Gary Burchfield, the owner of North Knoxville CDJR, said he's wondering the same thing.

    SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — The Webb School of Knoxville's Robotics Team 1466 competed against dozens of other teams at For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology's regional event in Sevierville over the weekend. The teams competed to see whose robot was best designed to collect and move different objects across the playing surface while the other robot tried to knock them out of the way.

    COSBY, Tenn. — John and Nan Sowieja traveled from their home in Willard, WI to the Cosby area on a trip dedicated to helping those affected by Hurricane Helene. It's the couple's second road trip since Helene hit East Tennessee and western North Carolina on Sept. 27. Their first trip was about a week after the storm. "God put it in our hearts," John said. Nan said they brought 400 lbs. worth of food with them on this trip.

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee state leaders will soon make an extradition request to South Carolina authorities for Nicholas Wayne Hamlett. Don Bosch, a criminal defense lawyer based in Knoxville, said an extradition request is also called a "fugitive from justice request" or "governor's warrant" in Tennessee law. They're fairly common and other states can make the request to Tennessee. It will affect Hamlett's trial. "That’s actually something the jury can hear in his trial for murder.
