MOLINE, Ill. — It's considered prime riverfront real estate in Moline, despite its revolving door of failed restaurants. Now the former Captain's Table, which more recently housed Catfish Charlie's, is up for sale. With a 2,000 square foot deck overlooking the Mississippi River, the restaurant and adjacent marina have been a staple of dinner celebrations in the Quad Cities for more than five decades.

The tears were flowing. Iowa native Frank Fritz and lifelong friend and reality-show co-star Mike Wolfe have reunited after nearly three years without seeing one another. Another longtime friend of Fritz’s helped arrange for the Memorial Day weekend reunion between the pair who found fame as “American Pickers” on the History Channel. She has asked that her name not be published to protect her privacy. “This was not a feud between Mike and Frank at all,” Fritz’s friend said Tuesday.
Niaibi Zoo season opener is Monday

For the first time in 50 years, Niabi Zoo will begin a new season on Monday without an elephant in the house. Kathy Sh-Boom was Niabi's main attraction for 38 years before passing away in 2002 at the age of 42. The Quad-City area's appreciation of pachyderms continued with the adoption of Asian elephants Babe and Sophie. But due to their declining health and an inadequate enclosure, the pair was relocated in October to a zoo in Arkansas.

MOLINE, Ill. — After sitting vacant for nearly three years, the former Hy-Vee at John Deere Road and 7th Street in Moline is getting a new tenant: ALDI. The grocery chain plans to expand by adding around 800 stores over the next few years and will occupy part of the former Hy-Vee space, city officials have confirmed. ALDI will not use the entire building at 750 42nd Avenue Dr., so city officials anticipate one or two additional retailers may share the space.

LE CLAIRE, Iowa — An undercover investigation – launched after customer complaints – reveals what authorities are describing as a prostitution operation at a LeClaire massage parlor. When customers said they’d been offered sexual favors during and after massages at KT Rose Spa on Canal Shore Driver, a special unit of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office sent in a member of their team. During regular business hours Tuesday, the undercover customer asked for a 30-minute massage.
Davenport man accused of using wooden croquet mallet to attack family member

DAVENPORT, Iowa — A Davenport man is being held without bond following an attack on a family member with a croquet mallet. James McNabb is charged with two felonies – going armed with intent and willful injury causing serious injury – among other charges. Police say the 37-year-old got into a dispute with a family member, retrieved a wooden croquet mallet from the garage, and struck the family member in the face.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — The suspect in a bizarre pedestrian-versus-car incident in downtown Davenport this September is now in custody. Police say Deonte Sims was driving a Chevy Impala just after 3 a.m. on Sept. 15, when he turned into a parking lot at West Fourth and Taylor Streets and allegedly struck a pedestrian. The victim tried to run away but was struck again, intentionally, according to police. According to a criminal complaint, officers located Sims in the vehicle shortly after the incident.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — A Davenport woman accused of trying to set fire to the inside of a Davenport police car over the weekend remained in custody Monday. Police say Marissa Padavich, 28, was identified in videos at several burglary scenes on Saturday. She is accused of stealing a motorcycle and, at another property, trying to enter a garage and throwing a gas can at the owner when confronted.
