By signing just one clear-cut starting guard in free agency, the Dolphins have left themselves needing another one, unless they turn back to beleaguered Liam Eichenberg, who was re-signed. At least a dozen guards — or tackles who can play guard — are projected for the first three rounds of April’s NFL Draft, when Miami is slated to pick 13th, 48th and 98th. Some feedback on first-three-round options in the interior line:▪ Missouri’s Armand Membou: It would be very surprising if he slips to 13th.

The Dolphins don’t have a single veteran safety on their roster who has started more than 22 games. (And it has taken Ashtyn Davis five seasons to make those 22 starts.)If that remains the case, that would leave ample opportunity for a safety drafted by the Dolphins to immediately compete for a starting job, at least one drafted in the first three rounds.

Tyler Herro met or exceeded all expectations in this breakout season, earning his first All-Star Game invitation, finishing 17th in the league in scoring (at 23.9) and 30th in assists (5.2) and setting career highs in points, rebounds, steals, assists, three-pointers, free throws, field-goal percentage and several other areas.

The Dolphins, in search of talented, young cornerbacks, brought Oklahoma State’s Korie Black to their Miami Gardens headquarters on Wednesday, the final day that draft prospects could visit NFL teams. Black, a 6-0 corner and native of Waco, Texas., had three interceptions last season, and quarterbacks produced just a 77.2 passer rating in his coverage area. He allowed 31 completions in 56 attempts for 449 yards (14.5 per reception), three touchdowns and three interceptions.

He is the one proven jewel remaining on a team constructed largely around prospects, journeymen and players trying to find their way in the big leagues. But you won’t hear a peep of resentment from Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara, the even-tempered 2022 Cy Young winner who patiently waits to see if he will follow more a half dozen other veterans out the door.

From earlier today....

NEW: If the season began today, Dolphins would be starting a low-graded nose tackle & a p-squad journeyman next to Sieler. Fortunately, season doesn't start today. Examining every single DL option available to Miami in 1st 3 rounds https://t.co/8kB7oHFFF1 With feedback on each

Should be high drama tonight in New Orleans! (Well, not really)

NEW: Heat's draft odds could jump a lot in next 55 hours, and the pick due from Golden State also could rise or drop in value. Where things stand, including the tiebreakers and everything at play here https://t.co/LC6kXCjYZf Miami keeps 1st rounder only if it misses playoffs

As expected, Kader Kohou signed his 3.3 M tender. Longer offseason goes without another starting corner being added, better chance he has of starting in base after good year. Dolphins have 16.5 M in cap space.
