NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A North Platte woman is accused of stealing money from an elderly woman to buy her own health insurance. Jennifer Pluard, 41, was charged in Lincoln County Tuesday with abuse of a vulnerable adult and unauthorized use of a financial transaction device. According to court documents, the victim’s guardian told police that Pluard and the victim’s son were evicted from the home of a 75-year-old woman.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Three people were injured when the roof of a porch collapsed early Wednesday afternoon. The North Platte Fire Department was called to the 700 block of West 5th Street around 2:15 p.m.Battalion Chief Jason Trimble said construction crews were working on the house when the porch roof fell, temporarily trapping at least one person. Trimble said the rest of the crew fell with the collapsing of the porch roof.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Four people were arrested and facing charges after a drug bust last week in North Platte. According to North Platte Police Department Deputy Chief of Police Kendall Allison, officers received credible information that illegal drugs were being used and distributed in a home on the 500 block of South Cottonwood Street. The following people were arrested on a search warrant on May 15.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Those in the area of South Cottonwood Plaza will see a large police presence Wednesday as part of an active shooter response training at the North Platte VA Clinic. The exercise will take place from 8-10 a.m. Officials say the exercise is designed to provide VA police, supporting law enforcement and emergency response teams an opportunity to train in a safe yet realistic environment.
