SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNOP) - The Scottsbluff Police Department is working to identify a man killed after being struck by a train early Friday. Officers were called to the area of 2nd Avenue and Railway at 12:13 a.m. for a crash involving a train and a pedestrian. Upon arrival, they found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene. Sergeant Royce Massie said the man’s identification is unknown, “but a lead is being pursued.”Sgt.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Lincoln County Commissioners gave an update on the sanctuary county status at their meeting this week. Commissioner Micaela Wuehler stated she’s been working with state officials, congressional delegation, the governor’s office, law enforcement, and the Department of Homeland Security over the last 10 months to get 10 of the 21 Nebraska counties cleared from the DHS website.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A North Platte man will spend nearly a year in the Lincoln County Detention Center on a gun charge. Kage J. Anthony, 21, was sentenced to 364 days in jail by Lincoln County District Judge Michael Piccolo for attempted possession of a stolen firearm. The charge was amended from a Class 2A Felony to a Class 3A Felony after pleading no contest. Anthony was given 58 days credit for time served and will serve nine months of post release supervision.

SIDNEY, Neb. (KNOP) - An investigation is underway in Sidney after law enforcement say a woman’s body was found in a ditch Tuesday. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Mattea Scheuerman of Greensburg, Indiana. According to Cheyenne County Attorney Amber Horn, the Cheyenne County Emergency Communications Center received a report of a body floating in water at 8:03 p.m. near 7th Avenue and Maple Street.
Community Cleanup Days underway in North Platte

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The City of North Platte and Keep North Platte Lincoln County Beautiful are hosting their annual cleanup days for households through June 9. Roll-off dumpsters will be placed at Centennial Park’s southeast parking lot and the North Platte Public Service Building at 1402 N. Jeffers north parking lot. The City is asking that only households participate (no commercial business) and that people not dump on the ground outside of the dumpsters.
