A report from the National Rural Health Association indicates that rural populations have higher suicide rates compared to urban areas. The report shows that the suicide rate among farmers is 3.5 times higher than the general population.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Nebraska’s newest meat processing facility, which is aiming to revolutionize the beef industry, is now processing cattle. Sustainable Beef, LLC in North Platte processed their first cattle Wednesday morning. “Today, we are doing two loads of 80 head. We should be doing that for about three weeks, then ramp up from there. Eventually, processing 1,500 head per day and employing 850 individuals.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The City of North Platte has announced a five-day water chlorination period to run in early June. According to the North Platte Water Department, the chlorination period will run from June 2 to June 6. The chlorination will cover the entire city and is strictly a preventative maintenance measure. City officials encourage those with chlorine sensitivities or those who have animals with sensitivities to chlorine to take proper precautions.

(KNOP) - The culmination of months-long hard work and dedication was on display over the Memorial Day Weekend as hundreds gathered at North Platte’s Cody Park to be some of the first to view and ride Cody Park’s revamped 1913 Herschell-Spillman Carousel. “Today, we are going to celebrate something that is truly special. We have had a lot of local folks get together and really improve this carousel,” said Brandon Kelliher, Mayor of North Platte.
