(KNOP) - Since 1991, the Miss Rodeo Nebraska Association has held its annual pageant in North Platte to coincide with the NEBRASKAland Days Festival and its PRCA Buffalo Bill Rodeo. The pageant not only brings Miss Rodeo Nebraska contestants into the area but also rodeo royalty from around the nation. While in North Platte, rodeo royalty can often be seen at nearly every NEBRASKAland Days event.

The event is hosted by the Westfield Shopping Center and its merchants in partnership with the North Platte Chamber Hostesses. Organizers say the Kids Costume Parade is a fun-filled tradition that not only celebrates community spirit but also highlights the unique local vendors located in the Westfield Shopping Center.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - In April, Mentor Nebraska announced Steven Heinzle of North Platte Community Connections as the recipient of the 2025 Mentor of the Year Award. Heinzle has been a dedicated mentor for 25 years, beginning his journey with Community Connections in North Platte after learning about the program through his involvement with the North Platte Jaycees. Since then, Heinzle has mentored nine youth through the program.
