The King County Superior Court sentenced an Auburn woman on Nov. 22 for manslaughter in the 2022 death of her 2-year-old son, resulting from “acute drug intoxication including fentanyl.”King County prosecutors charged both 33-year-old Angel Melia Vancleave and 32-year-old Daniel Raymond Kruger of Auburn — mother and father of a 2-year-old boy who died on Jan. 3, 2022 — in February 2023. Both Vancleave and Kruger sustained a charge of domestic violence manslaughter in the first degree.

Burglary in the first degree: Auburn police were dispatched on Nov. 17 after receiving a report at approximately 11:27 a.m. regarding a residential burglary at a unit at a condominium complex in the 1400 block of 8th Street Northeast. According to the department’s public information log, Auburn police arrested an individual in the incident on a charge of burglary in the first degree. According to the log, the incident involved one victim. A door was damaged in the incident.

A multiagency operation in Skagit County arrested 14 individuals in November, including a 50-year-old Renton man, for investigation of sexual abuse and exploitation crimes against children. The Washington State Patrol’s Missing and Exploited Children Task Force led the investigative effort for crimes including attempted child rape, the sexual exploitation of minors, and communication with minors for immoral purposes, according to a Nov. 12 news release from the Washington State Patrol.

The Renton Police Department has announced the creation of a five-person unit focused on violent crime. According to an email from Meeghan Black, a spokesperson for the Renton Police Department, the Violent Crime Unit — which conducts long-term investigation and tracks suspects in regards to violent crime — has been operational for approximately six months. The Violent Crime Unit, as of its creation this year, has arrested 88 suspects, according to a Nov. 12 release from the department.
