Noelle, who has always wanted to visit Hawaii, was treated to a Hawaiian-themed celebration by the community. The spelling of her name on her driver’s license and other documents did not match the name on her birth certificate. Through no fault of her own, Shelia said that mismatch is standing in her way.

    Over a hundred protestors gathered at Union Point Park in New Bern Sunday for a Mayday Strong rally. The demonstrators held signs, many of which were against federal government cuts. One protestor, Jo Anne Dollard, said the protest is not political, but rather advocates for democracy. Many signs there advocated against President Donald Trump. John Holmes was in the area of the protest, he said he didn't agree with their points, highlighting the amount of votes the President won.

Wanting to keep it alive. Last season, Grainger was home to the Down East Wood Ducks, Now its an independent team, the bird Dawgs stepping up to the plate. After some stadium changes, people came back to support.

    Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall visits the Volt center of Craven Community College on Friday for a round table discussion with different businesses in the county. Marshall, who’s been in the position since 1996, said business is booming in North Carolina. In her presentation, which began at 10 a.m., she said it’s a new era of entrepreneurship. She mentions creating 650 new businesses every day at the office since 2021.
