The home located at 1403 Chambers St. is another Colonial Revival house, but this time designed by Rawson and Paunack Architects for Thomas C. and Florence Catchings and built by Mann Building and Manufacturing Company.

The shooting took place after an altercation between two women in the establishment’s bathroom escalated, Chief of Police Penny Jones said. Jones was off-duty and eating in the restaurant at the time of the shooting.

Jones said she was enjoying a night off when the altercation escalated.

Published 2:38 pm Saturday, May 3, 2025 Vicksburg’s Ward 1 Alderman TJ Mayfield has announced a community neighborhood watch meeting in partnership with the Vicksburg Police Department and scheduled for Monday, May 19. The meeting is scheduled to be held at the South Street Shoppette, located at 1318 South St., from 5:30 until 7 p.m.Mayfield said the meeting will address concerns of residents in the area and will provide an opportunity for open dialogue with law enforcement officers.

Published 9:26 am Wednesday, April 30, 2025 Vicksburg Chief of Police Penny Jones has confirmed the body of a deceased female was found in the wooded area behind the Ameristar Casino’s hotel on Washington Street just after 8 a.m.Jones said the investigation is in its early stages, but confirmed the body located by police after being discovered by a local, who then alerted an Ameristar patron.
