GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The calendar has flipped to May, bringing longer days, warmer temperatures, and the unmistakable signs of spring in full swing. MAY CLIMATOLOGY Average temperatures take a significant leap during the month, with daytime highs climbing from 64° on May 1 to 75° by May 31. Overnight lows follow suit, warming from 43° to 54° by month's end. Precipitation averages 4.00” in May, which is the second most in a given month through the year, only trailing October.

MICHIGAN, USA — Impactful weather reemerges quickly Thursday across West Michigan, with strong winds developing in the afternoon and continuing through the evening. A Wind Advisory will be in effect from 2 p.m. Thursday through 1 a.m. Friday across several lakeshore counties, including Allegan, Ottawa, Muskegon, Oceana, and Mason. On the heels of the earlier wintry mix, winds will turn to the west by the end of the morning.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Lake-effect snow, blustery winds and the coldest air of the season so far – another round of winter weather is on West Michigan’s doorstep. Impacts will start to develop late Tuesday night, increase throughout Wednesday, then linger into Thursday – a 13 Weather Impact Alert will be in effect throughout this timeline. The National Weather Service has upgraded the previous Winter Storm Watch to a mix of Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories across West Michigan.
