The Universal CityWalk shopping and dining district in Orlando, Fla. expanded its flagship Universal Studios Store on May 8, 2025 with wings devoted entirely to Super Nintendo World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The store sells the “second-generation” Wizarding World of Harry Potter wands that debuted earlier this year.

Muppet*Vision 3D is closing at Walt Disney World, but not before Disney preserves the historic attraction with a professional filming. The curtain is closing on Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios near Orlando, Fla., as the attraction enters its final days of operation. The last day to experience the show is June 7, 2025. Doing good on a previously shared promise to “preserve” Muppet*Vision, Disney will host a cast member-only event overnight, in the wee hours of the morning on May 14.

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation will reorganize its corporate workforce to eliminate 10% of full-time staff, and the company will not close any other parks after Six Flags America shutters. Six Flags is undergoing a corporate restructuring, CEO Richard Zimmerman said during a quarterly earnings call on May 8, 2025. The reorg will reduce the company’s “full-time head count,” as Zimmerman phrased it, by more than 10%.

Disney’s next theme park will be in Abu Dhabi, and CEO Bob Iger described the choice as a “huge endorsement” of the location. The Walt Disney Company announced on May 7, 2025 its plans to build a new theme park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi in collaboration with entertainment company Miral. During Disney’s quarterly earnings call on the same day, Iger elaborated on the selection of Abu Dhabi as the location for the project.

Disney Experiences and entertainment company Miral will open a new theme park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Disney and Miral announced the project on May 7, 2025. Walt Disney Imagineering will design the new Abu Dhabi theme park and resort, which will be built and operated by Miral, and Abu Dhabi-based company. This is similar to the operations of Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan, which is designed by Disney and operated by Oriental Land Company. Yas Island is currently home to SeaWorld, Warner Bros.
