Cheryl Bruce is the owner of Bruce’s New & Used Furniture, 935 West 4th Street, and she says she’s had a good run, but with roadwork changes coming to the outside of her storefront, she says now’s the time for her to retire and sell the business.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - Crews are on the scene of a house fire in Rock Island. Crews worked to extinguish a fire at a home in the area of 15th Street and 15th Avenue, Monday afternoon. TV6 arrived on-scene at approximately 4:03 p.m. and could see crews with the Rock Island Fire Department completing overhaul. MidAmerican Energy is also on-scene. TV6 could also see a for sale sign in front of the home. Crews on-scene then confirmed to TV6 that the house is vacant.

GENESEO, Ill. (KWQC) - A pizza shop is continuing its long-lasting legacy with the third generation of family members serving up pizza and dreams, one slice at a time. From first jobs to friendly faces, Sam’s La Roma Pizza House has been a staple in the Geneseo community. It started 56 years ago with Sam Curcuru. Sam came from Sicily to Geneseo in 1969 to join his family, who worked in the pizza business. “They liked Geneseo, they liked the hometown feel of Geneseo,” his wife Jean said.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - A group of national labor leaders joined local workers today for a field hearing in Davenport. Discussions included impacts of the Trump Administration’s cuts to federal agencies and impacts on the local economy. Area workers in the agriculture industry got the chance to share their stories and anything associated with farming. An organizer spoke about the purpose behind the nationwide events and why it’s important to hear from the working class.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Crews were on the scene of a crash in downtown Davenport on 5th and Brady Street Wednesday night. According to police, an initial investigation found a motorcycle was traveling north on Brady Street at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle was hit by an SUV that was crossing Brady Street westbound on 5th Street. The motorcyclist, a 25-year-old man, was fatally injured. The driver of the SUV, a 24-year-old woman, was not injured. This is a developing story.
