STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WAOW) -- The five finalists for this year's Packers Everywhere Fan Favorite Contest have been chosen, and one of them is from Central Wisconsin. MaKynna Leskinski was named a finalist for the contest, which runs today through May 1. The winner will have their photo featured in various locations for a home game at Lambeau Field this season, including on the marquee signs outside the stadium.

Stevens Point looking for input on replacement for Rivermen Mural

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WAOW) -- When the Rivermen Mural was installed in Stevens Point in 2004, a 20-year-agreement was reached to keep it in place. That agreement has since expired, and big chunks of the mural falling off are now causing safety issues. So the City of Stevens Point is looking towards a replacement, and they want your help in finding out what that is.

(WAOW) -- "When it comes to children and family, leave the R's and D's at the door."That was Republican Representative Pat Snyder's message Tuesday in Wausau at a joint press conference with Attorney General Josh Kaul, a Democrat. The two were joined by a number of community leaders to advocate for more funding for Victims of Crime Acts programs. VOCA takes fees, fines and penalties collected in federal court proceedings, and disburses funds to the states for use on victims services.
Help for the Homeless Drive celebrates another record-breaking year

WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) -- In its 33rd year, the Family Radio Network's Help for the Homeless set another record. This year, they brought in more than $723,000 worth of hygiene and cleaning supplies. Those supplies helped stock the shelves at 137 crisis programs in 22 communities across the state. More than 1,000 businesses, churches and schools hosted collection boxes for the drive.
Funeral services set for Taylor County couple killed last week

TAYLOR COUNTY, Wis. (WAOW) -- The couple killed in Taylor County will be laid to rest in a joint funeral on Saturday. Visitations will be held on Friday and again on Saturday morning before the service at 11 for Josh and Becky Mann, who the Taylor County Sheriff's Office says were murdered last week. The 15-year-old person of interest in the case was found dead in his car over the weekend of apparent suicide. The Sheriff's Office says he's responsible for the Mann's death.
Much of the area under increased fire danger

MARATHON COUNTY, Wis. (WAOW) -- Much of the state is under increased fire danger for the next two days, the Wisconsin DNR said Monday. "The dry weather and very high winds forecasted through this Wednesday significantly increase fire risk across the state to start the week," they said in a press release. Wood, Portage, Waupaca and Shawano Counties are currently under very high fire danger, while much of the area is under high fire danger.
Incident with armed, suicidal subject resolved safely in Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WAOW) -- Police in Wisconsin Rapids successfully talked resolved a situation with an armed, suicidal subject Monday morning. They say it happened just before 6:30 this morning, when they were called to the front yard of a house in the 500 block of Pine Avenue. After about 90 minutes of negotiating, the subject voluntarily dropped the weapon and surrendered without incident.
