GILMAN, Wis. (WAOW) — A house fire broke out on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in the Township of Cleveland. The Gilman Rural Fire Department responded to the scene on Mico Drive, finding smoke emitting from the attic. All residents were safely out of the building. Gilman Fire Chief Brian Welsh said the fire started near the chimney and caused extensive rafter damage.

ADAMS COUNTY, Wis. (WAOW) — The Adams County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on April 24, 2025, in the Town of Adams, uncovering a significant cache of illegal firearms parts. The operation was part of an investigation into the unlawful purchase and possession of fully-automatic firearms parts and accessories. The search revealed numerous illegal items, including 3-D printed handguns without serial numbers, parts for converting firearms to fully-automatic, and a 3-D printer.

WAUPACA COUNTY, Wis. (WAOW) -- One person is dead after their UTV crashed early Sunday morning, according to the Waupaca County Sheriff's Office. In a release Sunday morning, they say the crash happened shortly after midnight on Mud Lake Road, north of Nitke Road. First responders found one male outside the UTV, unresponsive. They attempted life-saving measures, but eventually declared him dead.

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WAOW) -- At the WIAA Annual Meeting in Stevens Point Friday, the membership voted to approve an amendment on Name, Image and Likeness. The approved Constitutional amendment will allow students to enter into NIL opportunities for activities not associated or identified with their school team, school, conference or the WIAA, and in accordance with other prohibited NIL activities, including language attempting to deter undue influence.

Jake Schalow will take over the program in the 2025-26 season. Schalow was the Fox Valley Association Player of the Year and earned First-Team All-State honors with Kaukauna during his high school playing career. He went on to play Division II college basketball at Bemidji State University, where was part of two conference championship teams and appeared in an NCAA tournament. He began his coaching career at the University of Minnesota - Duluth, serving as a Graduate Assistant Coach from 2014-16.
