HILL AIR FORCE BASE—Though the 1970s saw the end of the Vietnam War, it was still a turbulent time across the globe. The Soviet Union was gaining a foothold, and the Cold War was beginning to be an even larger threat. For the modern era, there is no one single event that has quite had that effect as drastically as did the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. For many, that morning started like any other. People woke up, got ready for the day, went to work, went to school, and were just settling in.

SANDY—For almost 10 years now, there’s been one event where “Lego” fans around Utah go to get their brick fix: Brickslopes. A massive gathering of fans from all over, Brickslopes allows kids and grown-ups alike to really embrace their creativity in many different ways. Walking around the main exhibit hall, it was easy to see the astounding amount of talent present: everything from modern cities and medieval castles to spaceships and scenes from popular movies.
