CASEY, Ill. (WCIA) — The organizers of the Casey Popcorn Festival, scheduled for late August, have announced this year’s music entertainment lineup, which includes a former American Idol contestant. The annual festival will take place Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 in Fairview Park. On Friday, organizers named Crush – The Bon Jovi Concert Experience, Lakeview, Tyler Farr and Colton Dixon as the daily entertainment. Crush will perform the first night of the festival on Aug. 29.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Part of Champaign is under a boil order following a water main break Friday morning. The water main break happened at Green and Randolph Streets prior to 9 a.m. At 12:15 p.m., apartment tenants living in the area began receiving emails from their leasing agencies to inform them that their buildings are affected by the water main break. City of Assumption under boil order “Repairs are estimated to take approximately 8 to 10 hours to complete.

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A Decatur man was sentenced to 16 years in prison after he beat a man to death in 2023 over drug payments the victim owed him. 34-year-old Eric Hardy was in court on Thursday to be sentenced for a charge of second-degree murder. He was originally charged with first-degree murder, but the charge was downgraded as part of a plea deal he reached with prosecutors last month.

Update at 10:40 a.m.Sheriff Walker told WCIA that David Kunze is alive and is en route to an area hospital. Speaking with a reporter, Walker explained that Kunze’s family reported him missing to the Dewitt County Sheriff’s Office around 12:30 a.m. He had been missing for approximately four hours by that point. “Their son went out for a walk at about 8:30 last evening and had not returned,” Walker said.
