DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A shooting in Decatur Thursday night left a 29-year-old man in the hospital, police officials announced. The shooting happened in the area of West Leafland Avenue and North Church Street. Lieutenant Scott Rosenbery said officers were dispatched at 8:06 pm. for a report of shots being fired and they found the victim at the scene with “apparent gunshot wounds.” The victim was taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital by ambulance; he is expected to be ok.

Two people displaced after Taylorville home catches fire

TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Two people and their cats are displaced from their Taylorville home after it caught fire overnight. The fire happened on 1st Street near the intersection with Clay Street. Officials from the Taylorville Fire Department posted on Facebook that firefighters were dispatched at 2:30 a.m. for a report of a garage on fire. By the time they arrived, the garage was engulfed in flames, and the house and two cars in the driveway had caught fire as well.
Decatur man accused of attempted murder in drive-by shooting

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A Decatur man is facing a charge of attempted murder after police said he shot at a man in response to a verbal altercation, but missed and hit the wrong person. The shooting happened on April 20 in the area of Church and Division Streets. Five days later, the Decatur Police Department asked for and received an arrest warrant for 21-year-old Caiden Brittain.
