GARY, WV (WVNS) — A man from McDowell County was killed over the weekend in what is being investigated as a fatal train/pedestrian incident. According to Sheriff Muncy with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, the report came into their office around 3:30 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, near the Davy area of McDowell County. Once on scene, deputies and a responding state trooper found a man dead. How exactly the man came into contact with the train and died was not released.

GHENT, WV (WVNS) — The National Weather Service has issued multiple tornado warnings and watches for counties across southern West Virginia. Tornado watches were issued for the entire WVNS region in southern West Virginia. The watches include Mercer, Greenbrier, Raleigh, Fayette, Summers, Pocahontas, Monroe, Wyoming, and McDowell Counties. Tazewell County, Virginia is also under a tornado watch. The tornado watches are expected to end at 8:00 PM.
