CHARLESTON, WV (WVNS) — A Beckley man was identified as the construction worker killed on I-77 in Kanawha County on Monday, April 14, 2025. According to the West Virginia State Police, at 10:46 AM, Parkways Control received a report of a Parkways employee, now identified as 23-year-old James Harper, of Beckley, being hit by a commercial vehicle that was travelling in the southbound lanes near mile marker 92.

According to a post on the City of Bluefield’s Facebook, portions of Raleigh Street will be temporarily closed due to the hole. WELCH, WV (WVNS) — More details were released about the three people who died in the McDowell County floods. According to the West Virginia State Police, on Monday, February 17, 2025, Troopers with the Welch Detachment were called to a report of a deceased man in the area of Summer Street in Welch. The man was identified as Donald Eugene Griffin, 69, of Welch. His body was recovered from the bank of the Tug River.

BRADSHAW, WV (WVNS) — A murder is under investigation in McDowell County. According to members of the West Virginia State Police, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 11:15 AM, Troopers responded to a report of a death on Oozley Branch Road in the Bradshaw area of McDowell County. Once on scene, investigators found one victim, identified as Marcella Mullins, 62, of Bradshaw. Further questioning and investigating led to the arrest of the victim’s husband, 60-year-old Brady Mullins.

MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — One person died in McDowell County while flooding continues to make an impact across southern West Virginia. During a Monday morning update, Governor Patrick Morrisey confirmed there was one fatality due to the weather across West Virginia. That death was confirmed to have come from McDowell County, according to the McDowell County Emergency Management Director.
