A Sheboygan home sustained $10,000 in damages after a fire was caused by careless smoking. Sheboygan Fire Department responded to the fire on Ontario Avenue around 1:20 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters extinguished the fire within five minutes of arrival, and no injuries or displacements were reported. Fond du Lac police responded to a report of an armed man who had fired a gun inside an apartment Friday night. The man, who was in a wheelchair, was threatening to harm himself and refused to engage with crisis negotiators. Police evacuated residents and used an explosive breach to enter the apartment, taking the man into custody. The man's mother, who was also in the apartment, was safely removed.

Two people sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a hospital. One person was taken into custody at the scene. Police say there is no ongoing danger to the public.
