LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - This Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at Two Docs Brewing Co., fans of the game of soccer, the Lubbock Matadors and craft beer have the potential to learn more about all three at the first ever “Sip and Support” fundraiser benefiting a special group. The Lubbock Matadors’ independent support group, the Mozos, are hosting the fundraiser to raise money for different equipment the group will use throughout the year.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - There are now 709 confirmed measles cases in the South Plains region since the outbreak began in late January. The Texas Department of State Health Services reports 92 of those patients have been hospitalized over the course of the outbreak. According to the DSHS, fewer than 10 of the confirmed cases are “estimated to be actively infectious.”DSHS says the following counties have ongoing measles cases: Cochran, Dallam, Dawson, Gaines, Lamar, Lubbock, Terry and Yoakum.

LAMESA, Texas (KCBD/Gray News) - Texas authorities are investigating a crash that killed one of their deputies. According to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Jessie Perez died Thursday after debris from a passing vehicle hit him during a traffic stop. The crash happened near W. US 180 and N Ave. V in Lamesa. Texas troopers say the debris came from a passing commercial vehicle.
