Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images The Seattle Mariners bullpen is known for the many successes plucked out of the pile, but in order to find the diamonds in the rough, you need to go through the rough first. It remains to be seen if Gregory Santos can be one of those sought after diamonds, another jeweled feather in the M’s bullpen cap, but there was a time where we dreamed on that potential. As long ago as last offseason.

Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images It feels a little mean to run Klein’s 40-man preview on the day he gets optioned to Triple-A Tacoma, but sometimes, that’s just how the scheduling ball falls. But it’s more likely than not that Klein, who looks like an old-timey barbershop pole decided to try being Amish, will be up in Seattle at some point this season, so it’s worth getting to know him.

Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images When asked which new relievers had stood out so far at camp, manager Dan Wilson said two players: journeyman Jesse Hahn, and Casey Legumina, a 27-year-old traded to the Mariners this off-season who played his high school ball just down the road in Chandler, AZ.

Photo by David Durochik/Diamond Images via Getty Images In an off-season with obvious needs or question marks at both second base and third base, one addition to the Seattle Mariners roster was Donovan Solano, who in January signed a one year major league deal with the club. A little surprising to some at the time, Solano was brought on not to work the keystone or the hot corner, but rather to be the short side platoon to Luke Raley at first base.

Joe Nicholson-Imagn Images Tyler Locklear is something of a forgotten man in the 2025 Mariners roster season math. Luke Raley seems poised to start the season at the position, and the M’s have several other corner bats in camp (Austin Shenton, Rowdy Tellez, Donovan Solano), all of whom have semi-interesting bat-first profiles. It doesn’t help that Locklear had a rotten 16-game debut in Seattle last year, posting a 58 wRC+ while striking out 40.7% of the time.
