NORMAL — The Spring River Poetry Review will host two award-winning poets for its annual Lucia Getsi Reading on April 23. The reading, which honors the longtime Illinois State University creative writing program director and editor of the Spring River Poetry Review, Lucia Getsi, will feature Ali Beheler and Victoria Chang. The reading takes place at 7 p.m. April 23 at the Normal Theater, 209 W. North St., Normal.

NORMAL — The Town of Normal is partnering with Illinois State University on a campus pedestrian and road safety initiative. According to a joint statement from ISU and the town, the initiative seeks to improve transportation safety for all who live, work and travel through the ISU campus area. ISU and the town are working with transportation planning firm TYLin and community engagement and design firm All Together.

NORMAL — A festival of color and Hindu culture is coming back to uptown Normal this weekend. “A Festival of Colors: Holi Moli” will convene from 1-4 p.m. Saturday in Uptown Circle. The customary Festival of Colors, which traces back to Hindu mythology, is celebrated around the world, including in Normal. The festival will distribute packets of powdered color dyes that participants throw upon one another as a unifying sign of love, respect and community.

NORMAL — Ten years after a plane carrying seven Bloomington-Normal-area men crashed, killing all on board, memories of the lost Redbird sports fans, coaches and directors continue to soar in the minds of those who love them. A twin-engine Cessna 414A crashed just after midnight on April 7, 2015, about two miles east of Bloomington's Central Illinois Regional Airport.
