EUREKA — The Woodford County Health Department is advising event planners, business owners and residents to obtain temporary food and drink permits for events. Any event involving the preparation and serving of food and drinks to the public must be inspected and licensed for public health and safety reasons, the department said in a news statement. Those events may include food truck gatherings, festivals, benefits, fundraisers, community dinners or open houses.

SPRING BAY — The Woodford County Coroner has named a 34-year-old woman who died in an early Monday morning house fire south of Spring Bay. In a statement, Coroner Tim Ruestman said Shelby Luncsford was pronounced dead at the scene of fire at 1244 Upper Spring Bay Road. The coroner said she died from carbon monoxide inhalation. A dog was also found deceased inside the building.

SPRING BAY — The Woodford County Coroner's Office said a woman and a pet dog died in an early Monday morning house fire south of Spring Bay. A news statement from Coroner Tim Ruestman said first responders were called at 4:30 a.m. Monday to a structure fire at 1244 Upper Spring Bay Road. The statement said upon firefighters' arrival, the structure was fully engulfed in flames, and two male occupants had gotten outside. A third person and a dog didn't make it out.

BLOOMINGTON — A Bloomington-based art festival has wrapped up a weekend of live painting and fundraising for a Normal arts nonprofit. The second annual DerpFest hosted 20 artists for 48 hours of creating visual arts in acrylic, oil water, soft pastel and collage at the Hanger Art Co. Creators were tasked with making a new piece of art in 48 hours, beginning at 10 a.m. Friday and ending at 10 a.m. Sunday.

NORMAL — Alexis Piña began started learning trumpet when he was 10 years old. Since then, the 25-year-old said his music journey has taken him to “places I never thought I’d go.”Piña is studying for his master’s degree in music performance as a second-year graduate student at Illinois State University. On Sunday, the ISU School of Music student-trumpeter will herald in a not-often-heard performance in the Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.
