OMAHA, Neb. (KOIN) — Oregon State has a lot of pitchers on their roster with local ties, but the guy behind the plate catching for all of them? He’s a homegrown player as well. Barlow alum Wilson Weber has continued to be solid for the Beavs at the plate during the postseason, totaling 13 hits and 9 RBIs.For his parents though? His success is hardly surprising. “I knew he was good when he was three years old,” said Ryan Weber with a big smile.

OMAHA, Neb. (KOIN) — It shouldn’t shock anyone that the vibes around OSU’s baseball practice on Tuesday were light. This Beavers team has played in five elimination games thus far this postseason, so if anything, this is a familiar position for OSU. The thing that gives this squad hope is something that may surprise fans and that is how they played on Sunday night. “We won a game against a really good opponent, and we’ve also beat ourselves.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The total population of Mount Angel, Ore. is less than 3,500 and the high school only has 220 students. Understandably, the town 30 minutes away from Salem is not exactly a hotbed of DI talent. In fact, in 20 years of coaching at John F. Kennedy High School, head baseball coach Kevin Moffat has never had a player play at that level. Until starting Beaver baseball pitcher Ethan Kleinschmit, that is. “I can’t think of a better kid for it to happen to,” Moffat reflected.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Twenty-one months ago, Oregon State athletics was dealt what many saw as a death blow when the Pac-12 imploded, leaving them without a conference. The baseball team, unlike any other sport at OSU, opted to play a completely independent schedule this season. A lot of the talk on Thursday in Omaha was about how that uniquely prepares the Beavs for this moment.

"We've been handling adversity all year and we welcome it all the time so I think we're better trained than anybody in the country to go do this thing." That independent schedule OSU played this year? It was a big talking point today in Omaha, as the Beavs are uniquely prepared https://t.co/PYbSOw4084

Still in the middle of working what will ultimately be at least a 14 hour day after working a 13 hour day the prior day all to help bring Oregonians content from the College World Series and let me tell you the feedback is GLOWING!

@BrennaGreene_ @NelsonKeljo Was it Raggedy Ann makeup day today?

Jesuit alum @NelsonKeljo has had a season that took a few twists and turns for the Beavs, but the latest one was pretty sweet. On Sunday he got the final out to send OSU to the CWS. Full story: https://t.co/KHLmrd0AbV https://t.co/ig9JpIlsot
