(SEATTLE, WA) - The Seattle Storm have waived Maryville High School alum and former Kansas State guard Serena Sundell. Sundell was selected 26th overall by the Storm in the WNBA Draft back on April 14th. Sundell played 19 minutes in the Storm's lone preseason game back on May 4th, she finished with 1 point, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in her 19 minutes she saw on the floor. Sundell is now free to be signed by any other WNBA team before the regular season begins this coming weekend.

(FAUCETT, MO) - The Mid-Buchanan girls soccer team defeated Benton 3-0 on Friday. The Lady Dargons improve to 9-11 on the season and the Lady Cardinals fall to 2-14. Mid-Buchanan next plays at Faith Christian Academy on Monday, May 12th at 5 pm. Benton is at East Kansas City on the 12th at 4:30 pm.

(ATCHISON, KS) - The Benedictine College women's lacrosse team was celebrated on campus today for bringing home the school's second NAIA National Championship this past weekend down in Savannah, Georgia. At 21-0, the Benedictine College women's lacrosse team becomes the first ever undefeated NAIA national champion, along with becoming the first school to win multiple NAIA titles in lacrosse. This was the first title for the Ravens since the 2022 season. "It's so special.

Troy collected 15 hits in game 1, Jaya Weishaar finished 3-for-4 at the plate with 2 RBI, Mackenna Thomas was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI and Gracie McConnaughey was 3-for-4 with 1 RBI for the Lady Trojans.

With the win, the Bearcats move to 25-24 overall and 19-17 in MIAA play, as the Hornets fall to 23-24 and 16-20 in the conference.

(ST. JOSEPH, MO) - Benton High School senior Myles Bachali signed to play college basketball at North Central Missouri College in Trenton. Bachali was a two-sport athlete for the Cardinals, also playing baseball, but decided to stay on the hardwood in the college level. Bachali played a critical role in Benton's recent 28-4 season and the team's first trip to state since 1992. As a senior, he averaged 11.4 points a game, 4 rebounds and 4 assists a game for the Cardinals.

(KANSAS CITY, MO) - The St. Pius High School girls soccer team shut out Maryville, 5-0 at home on Tuesday. The win puts St. Pius, now 15-2, in the drivers seat in first place in the Midland Empire Conference. The score was deadlocked at 0-0 when Sarenna Hurtig headed in a goal for the Lady Warriors in the final two minutes of the first half to give St. Pius a 1-0 lead at the break.
