NORTH PLATTE — Of the nearly 80 immigrant workers detained in an Omaha immigration raid on June 10, 64 are being held at the Lincoln County Detention Center in North Platte, Sheriff Jerome Kramer told Lincoln County commissioners Monday. Capt. Dan Newton said he doesn’t know if Lincoln County has “ever taken that many in a 24-hour period,” and the detention center has been working all weekend to get them booked, placed and work with local organizations to provide translators and communication.

She has held many titles throughout her life, but now Dakota Glasshoff gets to hold the title of Miss Teen Rodeo Nebraska. After competing in horsemanship, speech and style competitions, the 18-year-old from Murdock was announced the winner of the Miss Teen Rodeo Nebraska competition at Mid-Plains Community College Tuesday night. Her previous titles include RCA Nebraska Junior Miss, Southwest Nebraska Junior Miss, RCA Teen Miss, Phillipsburg Rodeo Queen and Teen Miss Wahoo Rodeo.

A new, family-owned business has opened its doors in North Platte, bringing with it a market, restaurant combination that offers delicious Caribbean cuisine. Caribbean Cravings hosted their ribbon cutting Tuesday with the North Platte Chamber and Chamber Hostesses. Terri Burchell, one of the hostesses and wife of Mayor Brandon Kelliher, presented the business with their very first dollar.
