About Three Dozen Alfred State Students Take Part In The 2025 Showmanship Day

April 15, 2025Thirty-three Alfred State students participated in the 2025 Showmanship Day held at the college farm. The contest featured dairy, beef, sheep, and goat competitions. Most of the students that participated are part of the Small Ruminant Management or the Dairy Cattle Production One classes. Charles Susick II, ’18, and Christian Lewis judged the contests. Mulligan Palmerton earned the master dairy showman honor to start the day while Henry Winters was the reserve master showman.

April 15, 2025CANISTEO, NY – On Monday night there was a public hearing at the Canisteo Town Hall, about possibly passing a local law about what the pay should be for Canisteo Town Clerk Steve Cotton. However, because of objections from Canisteo resident Richard Stewart, the town board decided to have another public hearing before next month’s regular meeting, and they will revisit the issue at that time. Stewart has been fighting the board on this for months.

April 14, 2025In March of 2024, Chemung County Investigator Mike Thetge jumped on the hood of a getaway car to arrest a male suspect who was stealing from Target, in Big Flats. The driver sped off with the investigator and the male suspect on the hood of the car, knocking both of them to the ground. Today in Chemung County Court, the male suspect, Dominick Haley, 25, Ithaca, was sentenced to 12 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision.

Update On The Odor, On The Streets Of North Hornell

April 14, 2025There has been a strong odor on the streets of North Hornell, and to a much lesser extent, parts of Hornellsville and Hornell. It’s been a big problem, and one that really became very noticeable, 28 days ago. Hornell Mayor John Buckley attributes the odors to issues that HP Hood in Arkport, is having internally with their bio tower malfunctioning, for several weeks now.
