BATAVIA — The town of Batavia Fire Department members and a firm are working a retirement benefit plan to put on the ballot in November. The Length of Service Awards Plan (LOSAP) is in its early stages, said Board of Directors member Jim Ward. The Batavia Town Board last week authorized the Fire Department to work with the company PENFLEX on a financial analysis on the feasibility and sponsorship requirements of the proposed awards plan. The department will pay PENFLEX a one-time fee of $2,000.

HILTON — Community members and supporters bought raffle tickets, clothes and food over the weekend to help terminated corrections officers from Albion and Orleans correctional facilities and their families. Padraic “Paddy” Horgan, who co-organized Sunday’s event at Robbie’s Bar and Grill with Amanda Eartly, Susan Sullivan and Patty Russell, said according to Robbie’s, it raised about $8,000, but donations were still arriving as of Tuesday morning.
