    DENVER — The Colorado Department of Transportation is studying potential improvements to the aging Speer Boulevard and 23rd Avenue bridges over I-25, one of the busiest corridors in the state. Built in 1952, the bridges are showing signs of deterioration and are clearance issues for freight vehicles. “This section of I-25 sees a lot of traffic, it sees a lot of freight traffic, and it does need to be improved,” said Tamara Rollinson,  CDOT spokesperson.

The funding is part of a more than $4.2 billion federal grant program. The federal grant will help the Colorado Department of Transportation construct wildlife crossings and intersection improvements, add passing lanes and centerline rumble strips, widen shoulders, and install median barriers.

    LAKEWOOD, Colo. — The city of Lakewood is seeking feedback from the community to update its bike infrastructure for 2025. The current plan was adopted back in 2018, and separated bike lanes didn't make a debut in the area until after the plan was written.  In the six years since the plan was adopted, the active transportation landscape has changed significantly as bicycling infrastructure expands throughout the region.
